SEWING BASICS CLASSESWHO:
KIDS CLASSES: ages 8-16 ADULT CLASSES ages 17+ ADULT&CHILD CLASSES: all ages PARTICIPANTS: 4 to 6 max. WHEN: Meets over three sessions, 2 hrs. each This class is for anyone who would like to learn how to sew, whether you feel that sewing is a good skill to know or if you or your child has a strong interest in sewing, designing and creating with fabrics! This class will cover machine use and care, sewing on a button, fabric selection and information on sewing tools and uses. By the end of the program your child will know how to operate and troubleshoot a sewing machine and make a project from start to finish on your own.Every new SEW WHAT student will receive a class binder used to build class & reference material and to store your practice/sample work. This binder will carry you into the advanced classes so you can continue to build on your sewing skills. You will make complete the following projects in the class! PILLOW PLACE MAT INFINITY SCARF- final project REVERSIBLE HEADBAND - final project MATERIALS NEEDED: Sewing machine (bring your own to learn on or call to reserve one of our Babylock machines) fabric scissors, measuring tool, thread, bobbin, pins and a pencil. Fabric will be supplied for all practice, samples and starter projects. Fabric for the final project is the student's choice. Fabric, thread and sewing tools are available for purchase at the studio! No need to run out of town! PRICES KIDS: $83 ADULTS - Private session Entails a 5 hour course split between two 2 1/2 hour days. You pick days & times. We will follow the Sewing Basics course (see description above). However, there is more flexibility on areas of focus and the final project choice. Call to schedule. $160 ADULTS - Group session 2 or more participants 6 hours split between three 2 hour days. You pick days & times that work for your group. BEYOND THE BASICS CLASSESLEGGINGS (working with knits)!
Knits vs. wovens, what?! Sewing with knit fabrics can be challenging, so we’ll learn how to work with them. We will learn how to take measurements, draft a pattern and sew a pair of leggings. You keep your custom pattern to take home and make more!!! SESSION: one, 3 hrs. PRICE: $50 *Includes quality, double-knit fabric for project. ZIPPERS Learn about the different types of zippers and how to install them. Yes, there are many different types! We will practice and apply with a finished project with a zipper of course. i.e. a lined pencil pouch or make-up bag. SESSION: one, 3 hrs. Workshops are project specific, instruction-lead classes that are only one or two hours. You will enter the class and be lead step-by-step to complete your project. No need to know how to use a sewing machine or have any sewing experience, we'll guide you through your project step-by-step. Workshops are for all ages! *Price includes fabric & any other materials needed. You also get to take the pattern & instructions home! |
